St. Thomas College of Arts and
Science, Koyambedu, Chennai, celebrated the spirit and splendour of Onam
2026 with great enthusiasm and cultural fervour at St. Thomas Hall on 21st
August 2026. The St. Thomas Fine Arts Club organised the programme in
association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
The celebration beautifully
reflected Kerala's rich cultural heritage, bringing together the values of
unity, harmony, tradition, and inclusiveness. The vibrant atmosphere showcased
the college's commitment to promoting cultural diversity and giving students opportunities
to appreciate and participate in India's rich artistic traditions.
The event was graced by Mr.
Biju Chacko, Secretary. The programme featured distinguished guests from
the world of performing arts. Mr. Rajeev K. K., Drama Actor and Director,
and Ms. Kavya Sunil, Director, KKNV, graced the occasion as the special
guests. Their presence added inspiration and cultural significance to the
celebration.
The Onam festivities brought
alive the traditional colours of Kerala through classical dance, cultural
performances and artistic expressions, creating an atmosphere of joy and
togetherness. The celebration served as a meaningful platform for students to
connect with cultural traditions while expressing their creativity and talents.
Speaking on the occasion, the
college leadership highlighted the importance of cultural programmes in
nurturing creativity, confidence, social harmony and a sense of belonging
among students. Events such as Onam celebrations contribute significantly
to creating an inclusive campus environment where diverse traditions are
respected and celebrated.
The celebration concluded on a
