PSYABOUT
The Department of Psychology was started in the year 2005 with an undergraduate programme in Psychology. The undergraduate programme attempts to build a strong theoretical foundation in Psychology combined with practical application.
B.Sc. in Psychology is a 3-year full-time undergraduate course, the minimum eligibility for which is a Higher Secondary Certificate (10+2) qualification with a minimum aggregate score of 60%. The program is spread over 6 semesters covered over a period of 3 years. Apart from regular theoretical classes, Students are also offered the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the practice of psychology as applied to diverse professional fields through direct internships in the field.
The graduate programme in Psychology offers a perfect blend of subjects of both fundamental and applied subjects such as General Psychology, Biological Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Statistics in Psychology, experimental psychology, consumer behaviour, Abnormal Psychology, Social Psychology, Research Methodology, Guidance and Counselling, Theories of Personality, Sports psychology and many more. This enables students to diversify further into any course of choice in the field of psychology or its related fields for higher education or practice.
Students who have completed their Bachelor's degree with a specialisation in psychology have diverse career options. They are more likely to work in the field of psychology like school psychologists, health educators, mental health professionals, social workers, rehabilitation specialists, counselling psychologists, etc.
